Recently a friend of mine said when he saw our tagline, “So YOU’RE the one who’s driving buyer behavior!”
Consumer data is one of those topics that is both fascinating (as a marketer) and creepy (as a consumer).
Here’s a recent article about a company whose infrastructure is behind a lot of U.S. consumer data. The NY Times calls Acxiom the “quiet giant of consumer database marketing.”
Being in the database business, of course we are very well acquainted with Acxiom and its myriad of data offerings — some of which are better than others. A couple of our team members actually spent a week at Acxiom’s Conway, Arkansas headquarters a while back. In addition to learning all the fine points of their data products and systems, the cultural crescendo was when a waiter at the Little Rock Macaroni Grill sang “Happy Birthday” to us in Italian. Sweet! (or would that be Dolce, y’all!)
