We want to send a special thank-you out to world-renown behavioral economist, Dan Ariely – not only for his ground-breaking research, insightful and entertaining interviews, columns, books, and lectures – but for making the holidays a bit brighter for us behavioral science groupies.
Building on all his insights that dealing with the often irrational behavior of us humans in our decision-making, he recently released The Irrational Game just in time for the holidays. Much in the spirit of Trivial Pursuit, it’s a card game with a compendium of thoughtful – and sometimes tricky – questions/answers that shed new light on human behavior. (And have definitely stumped even some of our brainier team members.)
It’s a great test of how well you can predict human nature. And it is sure to spark some fun discussions among players.
In case there are any behavioral marketers on your holiday gift list, any one of Dan’s books are sure to excite them. Here they are in chronological order, starting with his first one from back in 2008:
THE HIDDEN FORCES THAT SHAPE OUR DECISIONS
THE UPSIDE OF IRRATIONALITY
THE UNEXPECTED BENEFITS OF DEFYING LOGIC AT WORK & AT HOME
THE (HONEST) TRUTH ABOUT DISHONESTY
HOW WE LIE TO EVERYONE – ESPECIALLY OURSELVES
ON MISSING SOCKS, PICKUP LINES & OTHER EXISTENTIAL PUZZLES
THE HIDDEN LOGIC THAT SHAPES OUR MOTIVATIONS
